Many individuals with neurodevelopmental differences experience traumatic events and seek out behavioral health services to heal. This training will examine the various sources, risk factors, and impacts of trauma experienced by individuals with neurodevelopmental differences. There will be a robust discussion examining how individuals with neurodevelopment differences are more vulnerable to experiencing traumas and how often their symptoms are misinterpreted and overlooked due to gaps in provider knowledge and training. By understanding the various types of trauma experienced by individuals with neurodevelopmental differences and recognizing their behaviors as traumatic responses, we are better equipped to provide more effective and responsive support.
